John Davis, an avid practitioner of the martial and healing arts for over 35 years Recipient of the Veterans’ Advocacy Center Healing Hands Project grant John has had a long-term interest in healing and martial arts, beginning in the late 1970s when he was first introduced to the remarkable health benefits of applied kinesiology and muscle testing. In the early 80s, he began martial arts training and earned advanced rankings in Hung Gar Kung Fu and Nine Heavenly Dragon Gate Kung Fu, of the Chinese Vajrayana Chan Buddhism tradition. John’s focus shifted from the martial arts to Qigong and the Asian healing arts during the late 1990s when he began immersing himself in the teachings of the Healing Tao in Toronto. He further expanded his knowledge in the early 2000s by completing an intense, comprehensive two-year program steeped in the Native Whisperer’s tradition of spiritual self-healing, where John had the privilege to study and practice with the Spiritual Advisor to the Six Nations. Around that same time, John began his study and practice of Jin Shin Jyutsu, a Japanese energy balancing art, and has been practicing full-time since 2011. In 2019, his contribution to healing practices was recognized with a grant from the National Veterans’ Advocacy Center Healing Hands Project dedicated to helping combat veterans. John continues to offer his services of Qigong and Jin Shin Jyutsu from his Williamsville, NY office, extending his practices to veterans and other individuals seeking holistic health related practices.
